The original idea to All:My:Faults came up 2001, when Steve Becker, who was, by then, in an alternative-rock-band, making the bass and the backing-vocals, until he decided at the beginning of 2003 to leave the band and making his own music. So the first songs were written in 2001, then lay for 2 years unheard in his studio until he found after the separation the time and the leisure to 100% bother with them. after some tracks were edited - as "the clown or "your world - try to realize" - he began to write new songs, and, most time, directly with the recordings. thanks to the new-gained artistic freedom new ideas came up as multitudinous as never before.
It showed up that All:My:Faults is a band that goes new musical ways, atmosphaeric, conterintuitive-melancholic with earwick-melodies and has its roots in the gothic-pop and dark-wave with main influence from the 80ies. The mix from wave/pop of the 80es, decorated with modern keyboard-elements and driving guitar-soungs is the concept of All:My:Faults. The disgestion of very personal feelings of the mastermind sb is one of the main aspects for the lyrics to deal with.
On the first demo "mirrors" one can find tracks about love and the most time juncted-with sadness or hate, as the lack of understanding about those. dark, electronic popsongs they are... most time with danceable beats, lightly distorted vocals, that is melodic coming to the point, and with arrangements, that full of finess show all quality of real clubhits. all lyrics are written by steve, as the songs, that mostly have envolved in own direction.
1. Where did you come up with the name for the band?
Well, the name came up after the time I was playing in an alternative-emocore-band for many many years.
That band, which was founded in deep friendship between its members, broke after five years of playing together, sharing any time together. So, there was I time I got to ask myself, if everything what’s happened was ‘all my fault’. Now - after 3 years - I know that it was not, ‘cause it was just the time and this “growing-older-thing” that caused that break between us all, but after it… I felt very down…
And it’s even a cool name for a band….. ;)
2. Who are all involved in the band; studio and live?
At the moment we are playing the shows as a three-man-band. Danny on the guitar, Ethan’s playing the synths & backing-vocals and finally myself doing the vocals (and acoustic guitar on some songs).
All the songs except “Intelligence” (originally written by Ton Sur Ton / Ethan Kemp) were written by myself and I even played all the instruments and vocals on them, but at the time we are recording new guitar-riffs for the songs, because Danny is much more better than me on the guitar *g*.
3. What bands have influenced your sound?
Em, the band which influenced me mostly is a band with a very different sound than mine, but it’s still the best band on this planet (for me ;))
Just “BOY SETS FIRE”.
Except them I listen to a very wide range of music. I like Metalcore, Death Metal, Synth Pop, Punk, Black Metal, Folkrock, Alternative Rock, Gothic Rock, Darkwave and so on… as you can see, I don’t like to think in drawers.
In my opinion there is no bad music-genre…. just too many bands playing shit. *laugh*
4. I have listened to all of you music and love how you go from German to English. What makes you decide what language to sing a song in? Where did you learn English?
I guess, it’s just because I think that the german language is very difficult to sing, cause it always sounds very hard & chopped off.
English is much easier to sing, you can play with it in the songs, with german it’s… well… I don’t know. *g*
But sure I do like to sing in german, but it must fit with the tendency of each song. With german you can sound more resigned and discarded.
Where I’ve learned English? I guess in school… and even time teaches you a lot….
5. When writing your music, does it involve personal experiences in your life?
The most of the songs are based on my own experiences and stories. It’s my way to process with my life and with all the things that can happen every day in it.
6. What is the story behind songs like \"Decision\" and \"In Your Diary\"?
“Decision” is one of the “fictive” songs, and I’m more than glad that I’ve never felt like the girl in the song or made these experiences. It just tells a story how it could be.
“In your diary” describes the feelings and the thoughts I had after I’d torn apart with my girlfriend that time… long ago ;)
So, I guess that 95% of my songs are based on true events, the rest is fictive or sealed to them, sometimes just to prevent that it intervenes somebodys privacy.
7. Do you prefer your music to be industrial or do you tend to avoid labelling?
At the moment I just want to make music… this all I want. What time brings and which decisions I’ll made in the future… I’ll think about when it’s time for it. *g*
8. Have you done any side projects or collaborations with other bands?
Yeah, there’s an idea for a death-metal band with my guitar-player… *gg* but it’s not finished yet. Still planning for it.
9. What is your background in musical training?
I started playing guitar with…oh, guess I was 12 years old or something like that… with 15 I got my first band in which I played bass and did the backing vocals. And even in that time I always wrote songs for my own, which where too different from the bands style… and so, after playing 5 years together I left the band. All:My:Faults was born.
10. Have you had any offers to play in the USA? If you haven\'t, would you do it if offered?
No, not yet. *laugh* but of course, if there would be any offers…. Why not?! Just have fun.
11. Do you have any political views? What is your view on the war in Iraq?
Fuck Bush. That’s the only message.
12. Is your music available in the USA? If so where can it be found?
Uh, I don’t think so. *g* Sure, you can download various song from the page, but the album’s still not finished yet.
13. Where do you get the samples for your music?
Do I have any samples in my music? Oh, sure, but just in one or two songs… short word-samples by John Sinclair-Cds and stuff like that. *g*
14. What are the future plans for All:My:Faults?
First I want to finish the first album… which means the first demo from 2003 totally new recorded and mastered. Playing some good shows. Making music. That’s the only thing I want.
15. And finally....What type of tool would you be?
Type of tool?
Chainsaw. *diabolic laughter*
