This area is set up for the smoother more contemperary stuff. So if you're faint of heart just stick to this side. ACHILLEA - THE NINE WORLDS: What's this, Enigma has come back? No, but the guitarist, Jen Gad from the great band, is in this one. In fact he produces it. This CD carries on where Enigma left off and goes into the deeper relms of the New Age-Ambient sound. He has the beautiful female vocals sing in Latin as well as Swedish. This is better than the last Enigma CD! So if you're a big fan of this style and want to journey beyond the relms of this reality, catch this one before it drifts away. GUITAR & PIANO MASTERPIECES -V/A: This is an 8 CD set that is beyond the world of classical music. It starts with MUSIC FROM THE AGES, which touches on the greats of Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin. There are a few rare tracks from artist like Schubert and Mendelssohn. MUSICAL RENAISSANCE is almost covered with Bach. MUSICAL MASTERPIECES picks out the well known tunes that everyone has heard. Even the unclassical listener can catch tunes like "Fur Elise", Nutcracker", and "Pomp & Circumstance." My favorite CD is SIX STRING SERENADE. It covers all relms of classical guitar songs. And if you are a piano buff, listen to PIANO PORTRAITS and PIANO SERENADE. This is the best classical samples of piano that you can get. The last two CD are VARIATIONS IN MEASURE and VIRTUOSO PERFORMANCE. They were a little gragging at time and too poppy for my taste. Hey, I can't argue. I got the box set (8 CDs) for only $10.
This side is for the hard rockers and distorted minds. So if you like dinner by candle light and poking dead bodies on the beach....read on. THE VANISHING - SONGS FOR PSYCHOTIC CHILDREN: The best way I can describe this band is a rip off of old Banshees and some touch of Gary Neuman for electronic keyboards. I was impressed with the first song "Princess Poison". The beats were fast and the guitars were '80's all the way. Then the CD started to slip with "White Walls" and the rest was a blur.... THE LAST DANCE - ONCE BEAUTIFUL: This whole album was great. I loved the fact a band can keep the '80's Goth sound still alive. The only problem was that there was nothing sticking out to make their sound more original. Don't get me wrong, I play the CD everyday, but it tends to bleed with DEADCANDANCE and others at that time. Unless they touch it here and there with some unique qualities, they might just fade into oblivion. KLANK - STILL SUFFERING: Yeah, this is an old industrial CD but I just get a kick out of the fact I found it at a christian bookstore! Are they a religious band? I don't know but they seem to be very angry and upset at someone. Songs like "Time" and "Burning" take me back to the heavy industrial beats and distorted vocals. The guitar gives it a touch if American style Industrial that we can hear in today's bands like NIN and MINISTRY. DJ TRISKYL - ARTIFACT A: I got this sample from my friend in Augusta, GA. He's a great DJ and it shows in his mixing on this CD. He throws in a lot of great bands like COLONY 5, DE/VISION, INFORMANTIK, and SYRIAN. I love going to the club and listening to what he has. Infact, he'll throw in some old stuff just for me. I may be the only one dancing on the floor but I don't give a shit. I'm too old to keep up with the new styles. If you want to download some of his track mixes, check out my Links page.
This area is for VHS DVD and books of interest.....the leftover stuff. THE CRUXSHADOWS + CD: I was going to seperate the DVD and CD, but they seem to go together so well. The DVD is the best live Goth recording I have seen since the BAUHAUS - GOTHAM. Actually, I think its better! It includes back stage peeks and interview. It also has a few videos like "Dragonfly" and "Cruelty." It's the only 2DVD set that I felt was too short. The second disc is a CD with rare new tracks from the band. This went well with the other CD that came seperately from it "Telemetry of A Fallen Angel." They remastered it to bring out the sound that was lost. I was able to purchase the 3 disc for $30 on Amazon. Its the best investment anyone could make. INVADER ZIM(VOL 1 & 2): Hey, if you haven't seen an episode of this funny cartoon, then you're an alien. This collection from the Nickalodeon cartoon brought me pure laughter. The funny thing is that I can see my little one acting like GIR(a retarded robot that loves candy) and runng around saying, "I love babies!" and "I miss you cupcake." Get this for the family. Its weird but safe for all. Unless you're like my mother-in-law, who thinks that the devil is in everything unless its Christian movies. The final set is the collection of oldy but goody monster flicks. THE LEGACY COLLECTION consist of the four main monsters in the classic movies, Dracula, The Mummy, Frakensteins Monster, and The Werewolf. The Dracula series could have been better if they would have thrown in some old Hammer films. It was weal at time with the Spanish version and "Draculas Daughter". There's 5 movies in all. The Wolfman has always been my favorite. I loved the fact they through in "Werewolf of London". Unfortunately, I was not impressed with "She-wolf of London". The surprise in that one is that there is no monster at all...sorry. The Mummy is the only collection that could have been a mini series. Every movie followed where the other left off...well somewhat. Let's see if you can guess the big mistakes in the movies. The funny thing was, that every sequel got worse and worse. Hey, just like today's horror flicks!! The last one is Frankensteins Monster. I was never a big fan of this guy. He was slow and dumb...hmmm just like the people I work with. Well, all I can say is that this is a good starter collection, but for the professional classic monster movie lover.....avoid them at all cost.
