This area is set up for the smoother more contemperary stuff. So if you're faint of heart just stick to this side. THE AHN TRIO - LULLABY FOR MY FAVORITE INSOMNIAC The Ahn Trio are three sisters from Korea who have become darlings of the classical world for their bold interpretations and new music. Their latest album, Lullaby for My Favorite Insomniac, slides towards ambient chamber music with new compositions from Kenji Bunch, Michael Nyman and some clever covers. BRIAN ENO _ AMBIENT This 4 CD collection is the best for any Eno lover. I listen to this daily and have yet to find any other Ambient group match it. Songs like "Shadow", "Meditation",and "The Chill Air" take me on a journey through the mind and soul. This is a must for anyone. BUZZ CUTS - V/A This is a typical best of grunge and alternative rock. I thought it was OK but my daughter fell in love with it. Some of the best songs were "Hemorrhage" - Fuel, "Bodies" - Drowning Pool, and "Blurry" - Puddle of Mudd. I wasn't to fond of this because I heard it all the time in the 90's. For kids, like my daughter, its new and they will enjoy rockin' to this 2 CD collection DURAN DURAN - RED CARPET MASSACRE Well, the 80's New Wave Leaders are still alive and kicking. This new CD was produced with the help of Timberland and Justin Timberlake and can easily be heard in tracks like "The Valley" and "Skin Diver". They keep their original sound through all this with songs like "Falling Down" which sounds too much like a song from "Ordinary World". All in all this was an OK CD. Problem was, most of the beats were the same and were Timerlands trade mark beats at that! A few rap inserts here and there and it was just Timerland with Duran Duran on back up. I love you guys but your peak was with "The wedding album" CD. All I can say is this CD was better than the "Meddazzaland" and "Pop Trash" CDs, which isn't saying much.
This side is for the hard rockers and distorted minds. So if you like dinner by candle light and poking dead bodies on the beach....read on. LAMIA CROSS - YAMAZAKURA Wow, is all I can say. A Japanese singer with a French Rocker. The first title track hits with techno beats and heavy guitar as the singer sings in japanese. I was very impressed....well, until I started listening to the rest of the CD.The guitar riffs on "Amanoagawa" sounded just like "Yamazakura" but the chorus became a little too poppy for my taste. The "No Limits" and "Hiroshima" got me wanting to listen more. For the most part, I was impressed with the unique sound and how Lamia could go from Japanese to French to English...sometimes in the same song! This is a nice CD to get if you just want to dance while watching Anime. LACRIMOSA - LICHTJAHRE A nice live CD from one of my favorite German Goth band. The quality is real good and I enjoyed listening to some of my favorite tunes like "Komet" and "Schakel". Great for those Lacrimosa fans everywhere. LESBIAN VAMPIRES FROM OUTER SPACE My god this group made me remember some of the tongue in cheek rock horror groups I loved in the 80's. The singer had a Souisee sound with the typical 80's new wave/goth sound with a touch of 90's electronica sound. How can you go wrong with songs like "Necrofancy", "Werewolf" and "You'll End Up Looking Like The Scarey Bitches" My god, I actually felt like dressing up again for the first time in years!!! Get this and you'll be riding motorcycles and hanging out with witches... SHE WANTS REVENGE - THIS IS FOREVER The greatest band in this decade has done it again. Their second album follows up where the first left off. Each song better than the next and you can actually compare the songs to the previous CD and hear that they have come in tune with the sound they were looking for.The dark lyrics of "Written In Blood" and "Walking Away" show they have an original path all their own. I just hope they keep it strong and not fade out as fast as they came in. SMASHING PUMPKINS - AMERICAN GOTHIC(EP) Somewhere down the line, I lost track of this band. Maybe because he dug himself deep into his sarrow after one of the members died. And maybe its because he was pushed into the Gothic scene when the band was considered grunge or alternative. This EP was impressive and I actually listened to him for the first time. IThis EP actually had me reflecting upon the people I lost in my life that had become shadows in the corners of my mind. He still has it and I apologize for not listening before. Songs like "Pox" and Rose March" are accoustic soulful but hit hard enough to feel like he's rocking like his early days. Keep it real my friend.
This area is for VHS DVD and books of interest.....the leftover stuff. DURAN DURAN - ARENA Oh, my god, who tossed this in my bin. I loved the band in the 80's but the live DVD during this time was weak and left many wanting to know more about the band. It had some of my favorite songs like "Save A Prayer" and "Something I Should Know" which was never released on any of the first LPs until they were later re-issued. I would rank this with a 5 out of 10. Sorry, just not enough there for me to want it. AFROPUNK This is one of the best documentaries I have seen in a long time. It reflects the life of blacks in america who are in the punk scene and how it has affected them socially. This DVD has one many awards and deserves to be shown in major movie theatres everywhere. Get this NOW. I just wonder if there will be one reflecting blacks in the Goth community.Hmmmmm 10 out of 10 THE PRODIGY - THEIR LAW When I started watching the first few videos I had to check twice on the band name. Seriously, some of the videos had the lead singers dancing to techno beats. It appears that this is what Prodigy originally sounded like before their industrial hit "Breathe". I couldn't stop laughing when I was watching them speed dance in songs like "Everybody In The Place" and "No Good" . But, I had to stop and think about Ministry going from poppy new wave to heavy industrial guitar. This is a nice collection for anyone who loves Prodigy through all their changes in the past 2 decades. 7 out of 10 BLOOD I thought this would be another boring vampire flick....and I was right. Ok, it was nice seeing Lucy Lu inaked and in a Lesbian scene. I just felt the plot was weak and dragged on at times. Lucy plays a girl who seeks revenge for those turning her into a vampire. She goes on a rampage killing all the vampires up to the top. I just lost interest after a while and really can't tell you the ending....I fell asleep 3 out of 10
